Exciting News!!

In case you haven't heard by now, Jake and I are going to have a baby!! I'm due January 31, 2009. We're so excited to be parents! Now we just can't wait to find out if it's a girl or a boy! Whatever it is, it will be a first on one side or the other. We have three nephews on Jake's side of the family and three nieces on mine. We'll see which side gets what they want! Just kidding, I'm sure the grandparents will be happy with whatever we have! Here's how we told our family the news:

I had this cute plan of telling Jake that we were pregnant on Father's day but I couldn't keep the secret to myself. Right after I got a positive test I ran downstairs where he was exercising and showed him the test. This is a picture of Jake on Father's Day when I gave him the baby Utah State t-shirt to tell him it's his last childless Father's Day. He is so excited!

We told my parents we were expecting by putting up this poster on the tennis court right before we went over to play doubles with them. We had to be very sneaky because my dad was right next door in the garden while we were putting this up and if he looked over we would have been caught! Good thing he was so preoccupied with his new irrigation pipes.

We did a little treasure hunt with clues and candy bars for the girls to tell them they're getting a new cousin. The last clue said, "Jake and Britt are having a 'Sugar Baby'!" Makenzie just kept saying, "Really? For real? You're not joking?" I think they've waited so long for a cousin on this side that it's hard to believe. Makenzie thinks it's a boy and we should name him Tom and Eliza thinks it's a girl and we should name her Sunshine!

The girls helped make these cupcakes so when Corine and Brody came to pick them up we had them unscramble them to tell them they're getting a new cousin.

Our nephews on Jake's side don't have any cousins so we had these t-shirts made and sent to them.

We sent these picture frames with the ultrasound to Jake's parents in Indiana. Jake told them we were having a baby over the phone before we sent these so they knew already.

We are so excited for our little baby to come! Jake wants a boy but I know he would LOVE a little girl and I don't really care either way just as long as we get a healthy little baby.

Britt and Jake Mosaic

I found this cool website to make these cute mosaics at http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/

This was just an experiment really, but it turned out kinda fun. While I was putting these pictures on I couldn't help but fall in love with Jake all over. He is the BEST husband I could've ever hoped for! He's so kind and loving and patient and fun to be around and forgiving and the list goes on and on...I'm so grateful he chose to marry me and I can't wait to start our family together! I love you, Jake!

Newport Beach

We had a great vacation at Newport Beach over the 4th with the whole Hart family! This is a trip I look forward to every year and now Jake does too! When he accepted his job a few months ago he said, "As long as I can have a whole week off over the fourth of July I'll accept the position." Luckily, they were nice enough to accept his deal. Here are some highlights from the trip:

We got to visit Ty and Kathy in San Diego but we didn't take a picture of us all together.

Jake lubin' up for the beach! He got a little sunburned on the first day so he wanted to make sure that didn't happen again.

Dinner with the girls. Me, Megan, Madie, Jessie, Gabi, Jenny, and Ali. The boys were there too but they didn't want anything to do with us!

Jake and Britt on the beach

Jake's sand castle that he spent a few hours building. A few minutes after they were finished building it, a mom let a bunch of her kids come trample it. Oh well, they can't last forever!

Here we all are at the Angels game. This was a close game but the Angels won it at the end! I love baseball games!

What a fun and relaxing trip! We already can't wait for next year!!

What Disney Princess are you?

What do you know? I'm my favorite Disney Princess!

You Are Aurora! (A.K.A. Sleeping Beauty.)

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

New Background

My sister-in-law Kathy inspired me to change my background to a cuter one. I'd always been a fan of the plain black background but it was getting a little old. Here's what I came up with. What do you think?
