Silly Bridger

I thought I'd post a few funny stories about Bridger. Ever since he was born he has hardly cried at all. He only cries if I wait too long to feed him but I try to not let that happen. Well, just last week he started grunting to tell us he doesn't like something. It is the funniest thing! If I'm changing his diaper and the wet wipe is too cold, he grunts "Hmmmm...," or if I tickle him when he's nursing he grunts, "Grrrr...," it's hilarious! Jake and I try to bug him just to hear his cute grunt! Mean parents huh? Anyway, here's a video of him sleeping and grunting at the same time. This is a soft version of his grunt. It's usually a bit louder.

Bridger makes the cutest face by puckering up his lips, lifting his eyebrows, and opening his eyes really wide. Whenever he makes this face I pretend he's puckering up to kiss his mommy and I kiss him on the lips! On Sunday after Sacrament meeting I brought Bridger home and fed him. Afterwards he made that cute face again. Well, right as I got next to his mouth to kiss him, he spit up all over my face and in my mouth! It's like he knew what he was doing. I laughed so hard and wished I had it on video. Silly Bridger. Here's the cute face he makes:

Bridger likes to sleep with his arms up by his face. Jake bundles him up in his blanket but somehow Bridger wiggles his arms out most of the time. The other night I was nursing Bridger in bed and he had his little hands right next to his face. I looked over at Jake and he had his hands right up on his face too so I guess that explains where Bridger gets it! Here's a cute picture of him sleeping:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Our happy little family on Valentine's Day.

Here's little Bridger in his cute little Valentine's bib Grandma Hart gave to him.

When Jake and I lived up in Logan we always ended up eating at Cafe Sabor (our favorite mexican restaurant). This year we wanted to go there again so luckily they built one up by Jeremy Ranch and we decided to go there. We went around 4:00 so there wouldn't be a huge crowd. Bridger came with us and we had a great time!

Bridger and Mommy

My mom took some pictures of me and Bridger the other day and just happened to catch him accidentally smiling up at me. It's my favorite picture!

Bridger meets his Aunt Misty

Misty was able to stop by the other night and meet Bridger for the first time. She was picking up her husband from the airport and she was nice enough to come visit us. Sounds like she fell in love with Bridger as fast as we did!

Bridger update

Jake and I have been home from the hospital for four days now. We are having the best time getting to know little Bridger! He is such a good baby and we love him so much! Thanks for all the visitors who came and visited us at the hospital and at home! Bridger is so lucky to have so many people to love him. The Harts have been able to hog little Bridger and we're excited for the Nielsens to come visit and get to meet him soon!

He's here!--Bridger Scott Nielsen

Here's our beautiful baby boy--Bridger Scott Nielsen! He was born February 3rd at 11:15 am, weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz., and was 19 inches long. He has been the best baby so far! Jake's biggest worry was that he was going to have an ugly baby and he was happy to see that this little guy is adorable! We are having so much fun getting to know him and taking care of him. More pictures and updates soon to come...

The story of my labor...

So in my last post I wrote about how my Doctor was planning on inducing me on the morning of Feb. 3. I called Jake and told him we would be having this baby the next day. After my doctor's appointment I went on with the rest of my day getting everything ready to go to the hospital the next morning.

That night I was too excited to sleep. I decided to take a bath around 10:30 thinking that would help me relax and finally fall asleep. I started having some contractions and I just thought they were Braxton Hicks or whatever. Around 2:30 they were getting pretty strong and close together so I finally woke Jake up and told him I thought I was in labor. He wasn't too worried about it. He just told me to remember that I'm not supposed to go to the hospital until my contractions were 5 minutes apart. I had been timing them and I don't know how but they were close like 2-3 minutes apart. I still couldn't believe I was in labor though.

I took another shower and got things ready while Jake stayed in bed. I called the hospital to see if we could come in and they said it would be fine. So I told Jake we were going. We made it to the hospital around 4:00 am. The nurse checked to see how I was progressing and my water broke. I got an epidural around 6:00 am (the anesthesiologist is my best friend!) and my labor went like clockwork. I started pushing at 10:15 am and Bridger was born an hour later at 11:15 am.

Watching little Bridger be born was the neatest experience of my life! It was so exciting to finally meet this little guy I'd been wanting for so long. He was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! It's hard to describe the love I immediately felt for him. He is a little angel and I'm so glad he came to our family!

Baby Countdown

In case you haven't noticed, my countdown to Baby Nielsen is complete only this little guy didn't get the memo. I went to the doctor's today and he has decided to induce me tomorrow morning! I'm excited and anxious! I can't wait to finally hold Bridger in my arms but of course I'm a little worried about the delivery part. Wish me luck! Hopefully, my next post will be full of pictures of Bridger.

Baby Showers!

It's about time I updated my blog huh? I've been meaning to post these pictures from my family baby showers. They ended up being on the same day (January 12th)--the Smith family shower in the afternoon and the Hart one in the evening. My cousin Amy and I had a double shower since we were due so close. We were both expecting boys so it was fun to get lots of twinner outfits and presents! It was such a fun day and I want to thank everyone for all the great gifts you gave Jake and me! We don't know what we would do without your help.

These are the quilts Val made for Amy and me. Aren't they darling? I have always wanted a quilt from Val and now I have one! Thanks, Val!
