Salt Lake City on the Cheap

Hi, friends and family! I am in the process of starting up a website called Salt Lake City on the Cheap (saltlakecityonthecheap.com). It's a website where I will post daily deals from CityDeals, Groupon, Living Social, etc. With these deals you can usually save 50% off or more on gift certificates from restaurants, theaters, golf courses, spa and salons, and much more! They make great gifts or they're just a great way to save money while still going to the restaurants and attractions you love. Jake and I buy them all the time! We hate paying full price for anything anymore.

Like I said, I'm still working on the website but I have started a facebook page that will have all the same deals that I post on my website. I am trying to get people to "like" my page so that it will get more popular. If you are interested in hearing about these deals--or you just love me and want to support me ;)--please log on to your facebook account and look up "Salt Lake City on the Cheap" and click on "like." Then you will be a follower of my page. And share it with your friends! I would really appreciate it.

I should explain that the reason I'm doing this is to be able to earn a little money while still staying at home. I'm an affiliate for these companies and I'll make money when people buy their offers from my website or facebook page.

Oh, and if you don't live in Salt Lake City, don't worry! A lot of the deals will work where you live as well. Thanks for your help!

Happy 30th birthday, Jakey!

We had a fun time spending the day together on Jake's birthday. First, we went to lunch at JCW's got some yummy cheeseburgers, fries, and ice cream (sounds healthy, huh?). Then we went to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. We had fun going around and looking at the cool Dinosaur exhibit. Bridger loved it!

That evening we had all our family come over for cake and ice cream and presents. Everyone was so nice to come and hang out with us in our little apartment. Here's a great picture of Jake blowing out his candles. I should have put thirty candles on but I just got lazy this year.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Jake! You are the most wonderful person I know and I'm so grateful that you're my husband. Here's to another 60+ years of celebrating your birthday together.

August fun

I've been pretty bad at updating our blog lately. We've been having such a fun summer! Here are some of the things we've been up to:

Bridger's been wearing his sunglasses and being a goofball!

We've been eating Grandpa's raspberries and getting the red juice all over ourselves.

When we go grocery shopping Bridger loves driving the carts with the cars on them.

Bridger and Grandpa take naps in the hammock.

We babysat the Woolston family in our ward for a few days. Bridger loves these kids!

We went to a Bee's game with Grandma and Grandpa, Barry, Ty, Kathy, and Josh.

We sampled all the treats at the game--hot dogs, dip 'n' dots, peanuts, pizza, fries, soda pop, churros, and popcorn. Bridger loved feeding it to Grandpa!

Bridger is still learning how to walk.

Here we are at temple square waiting to see Brody and Corine's family's concert.

It's been so fun having Tyler and Kathy around again! We like to hang out with them all the time. Here we are at Grandma's making a yummy fruit tart to satisfy Kathy's cravings.

More fun news...

Baby Josh is going to be a big brother...times two! That's right, Kathy and Ty are expecting twins! How exciting is that? Their family will triple in size in less than 9 months. We are SO happy for them and can't wait to meet our new niece and nephew (at least, I think they're going to be a boy and a girl)!

California trip

We had a wonderful trip to California with our family! We left Friday, the 2nd, and stayed that night in St. George. On Saturday we drove straight to Newport Beach to spend the day there.

Bridger fell in love with the beach immediately even though the weather was chilly. He couldn't get enough of playing in the sand and in the water!

Jake took Bridger out into the water and got him soaking wet. Bridger loved it!

On Sunday, the 4th, we spent the day in San Diego at Ty and Kathy's house. We got to meet baby Joshua for the first time. He is a tiny little thing and he's so adorable!

Bridger and BJ got pony boy rides from Grandpa. Josh is still a little too small for this.

Kathy is the cutest mom and she takes such good care of little Josh.

Grandpa and his three (soon to be four) grandsons.

Grandma and Grandpa and all their grandkids.

Our whole family (except Brooke 'cause she's taking the picture).

On Monday we spent the day at the Wild Animal Kingdom. It was a fun place and the kids enjoyed seeing all the wild animals.

Tuesday morning we got up early and drove back to Newport beach to spend the day. We started off at Ruby's Diner where we ran into the rest of the Hart family.

Jessie, Tanner, and Cade buried all the little kids.

Bridger and Madie

Jake dug a big hole and then Gabi and Jessie buried him in it. Bridger saw this as a good opportunity to get his Daddy! He scooter right over to him and threw handfuls of sand in his face. Luckily Jake was wearing his visor so he could block most of it.

Our little family at the beach. It was another cold day and the sun didn't come out until around 4:30 pm. Needless to say, I did not spend much time in the water. I had to wear my sweatshirt the whole time!

On Wednesday we went to Seaworld with Brody and Corine's family, my mom and dad, and Barry. The weather was perfect and we had a great time going to the shows and looking at all the sea animals.

Makenzie, Jake, Bridger, Eliza, and Ivy enjoying the Shamu show. Bridger was more intrigued with the seeing eye dog that was sitting in back of us than he was the big whales.

That night Jake and I drove to Las Vegas and spent the night at his sister Brandy's house and the next day we drove back home. We had such a fun trip! Too bad they always have to go by so fast.

28 weeks and counting...

I can hardly believe I am already 28 weeks along in this pregnancy! The time goes by so much faster with the second pregnancy. If you asked me how far along I was when I was pregnant with Bridger, I could tell you exactly "28 weeks and 5 days" or whatever. With this one people ask me and I have to think about it really hard. I usually just say, "around seven months."

This pregnancy has been even easier than my first one (which was very easy as well). When I was pregnant with Bridger I got some kind of arthritis in my wrists but luckily I haven't had that this time. I am so blessed to have such smooth pregnancies--no morning sickness, no cravings, no getting grossed out by smells, nothing. I guess it just means I will have to have lots of kids. We'll see!

I'm so excited for this little baby to come. I love him so much already and I can't wait to see Bridger and him together! Bridger will be the best big brother and I'm sure they'll be best buddies.

Pres. Monson

One of the many perks of living in Salt Lake City is that you sometimes run into the Prophet at dinner! We went to Little America with Jake's family and while we were eating dinner Pres. Monson was on his way out. He saw the kids at our table and came over to say "hi." The first thing he said when he came to the table was, "Where did that boy get his red hair?" (to Bridger). Braxton and Kobee got to shake his hand and give him high fives. He asked Braxton when his birthday was and when he told him Oct. 7th Pres. Monson told him that date is also he and his wife's wedding anniversary! What a neat opportunity for those boys. They will definitely have something to brag about when they get home.

Here he is talking to Braxton and Kobee

This shot didn't turn out too great but at least I grabbed my camera and took some pictures! It was so fun seeing him in person. I was pretty starstruck. He's the only "celebrity" I would care to meet.
