Pregnancy Re-cap

Day we found out we were pregnant: August 24, 2011. I had been REALLY hungry the past few days and I needed to eat certain foods right when I thought of them--guacamole one night, Chinese the next. And I was pretty ornery when I didn't get to eat when I was hungry. This was my first clue that something might be up. I also got really upset with Jake one night and he asked me if something was wrong 'cause I wasn't acting like myself. This was another clue. So I started to wonder if I could be pregnant again. One night we went out to eat at Mandarin Garden and afterwards Jake and I decided to buy some pregnancy tests at the dollar store. When we got home and put the boys to bed Jake made me take the test. I wanted to wait until the morning 'cause I knew it was going to be positive and then I wouldn't be able to sleep. So right after I took the test it came up positive and Jake and I were in shock! We weren't exactly planning on this but we also couldn't be happier to add a new little one to our family especially if it happened to be a baby girl which Jake said it was right from the beginning. Once we got over the shock of having 3 kids 3 and under we were so excited!

First doctor's appointment: August 30th. We got to see an ultrasound of the baby and hear it's heartbeat. I was already 8 weeks pregnant when we found out.

When we told family: I wanted to wait for a little while but I talked to my mom on the phone and couldn't help but tell her. She was saying something about how Brooke had made her sit down to tell her that she passed her Dental Hygiene exam and my mom thought she was going to tell her she was pregnant. I said, "Well, speaking of being pregnant..." and I told her we were expecting again. She was so excited! I told her not to tell my dad yet but they called that night and my mom said to tell him my exciting news. So he found out that night too. Then Jake told his parents and I told Brooke. Eventually we told the rest of our siblings and aunts and uncles and grandparents.

When we told everyone else: About a two months after we found out.

When we found out the sex of the baby: October 22, 2011. I was on a girls trip with my Hart cousins, Aunts, and Grandma in St. George. Jake didn't want to pay for an ultrasound at Fetal Fotos but I couldn't wait any longer to find out what the baby was. So when I sent him a text and told him we were on our way to Fetal Fotos (as a joke) and he didn't get mad I thought I could probably talk him into it. Since we were all going down to Las Vegas the next day I made an appointment at Baby's First Image and we went there as a big group (13 of us in all). My cousin Jenny got my Mom and dad on face time so they could hear the news and see the ultrasound as it happened and I was on the phone with Jake. The ultrasound technician eventually typed on the screen "It's a prince...ss!" Everyone cheered! It was so exciting to hear that the baby was a girl! I felt like she would be a girl all along but I couldn't admit it to myself just in case she wasn't. I can't believe I'm going to have a daughter. How fun!

First time I felt movement: Not sure, maybe around 19 weeks. But she is moving all over the place now!

Names we like: We always loved the name Sadie and I wanted to name her Sadie Mae (after my Grandma Hart) but I had two roommates use that name and a cousin just named her baby Sadie so it was out. Bummer. But we also liked the name Amber and that was Jake's favorite name so since he didn't get to go to the ultrasound I told him we could name her Amber. We're not sure on a middle name yet but it will probably be Lynn after Jake's mom Lynnadele.

Morning Sickness?: Absolutely none. I'm really lucky that way. Although I did throw up twice one night in December (Dec. 1st to be exact) and then I was fine. It was strange and miserable and I'm glad I don't get morning sickness because I don't know how anyone handles throwing up!

Cravings: I don't get cravings or anything weird while I'm pregnant (although I do like to eat Frosted Shredded Wheats). I just get SUPER hungry in the beginning and if I can't eat right when I need to you better watch out because I will be grouchy!

Nesting?: Since we pretty much had everything we need for the baby already (except girl clothes) I didn't feel like I had to buy a ton of stuff for her. And since we're living in my parent's home and their house is already furnished and everything I didn't go out and buy new stuff. I did buy some girly bedding for the nursery when she moves into it and I'll put the boys in the cowboy room when she's ready for the nursery.

When did you start to show?: I think I was still "showing" from Graham before I even got pregnant. :) But when it was very obvious I was pregnant was around 16-18 weeks.

How has the husband been through it all?: Jake has been amazing as always (when he's here). Since he is working at CBIZ (an accounting firm) during this busy time of year he's hardly ever home. He even works on Saturdays but when he is home he takes care of me. He is very excited to have a little daughter! I know he will love her to pieces and so will I.
